Collaborative Seminar Series
During fall and spring semesters annually, the Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence partners with the Center for Nursing Research to develop and provide a Collaborative Seminar Series. Several of these seminars are interprofessional (IPE) educational programs intended to increase knowledge about various topics related to care and quality of life for older adults by internal and external experts in the field of gerontology. The gero content seminars are especially relevant to our community and clinical partners, as well as faculty and students from the College of Nursing and other associated Penn State departments and colleges. We also usually offer CNEs (continuing nursing education credits) for Registered Nurses, as the Penn State College of Nursing is a PSNA-approved provider. All other seminars focus on promoting skill building, mentoring, and scholarly discourse among doctoral and other students, faculty members, and the broader community. These include Journal Clubs, Brown Bag discussion sessions, oral/poster presentation preparation for GSA and ENRS conferences, and scholarly presentations focused on topics identified by our graduate students or faulty (such as authorship, writing publications, grant applications, research methodology, implications of clinical research, etc.). Persons can participate in-person at our University Park campus or via Zoom webinar. Reservations are required for some events. All are welcome to attend, free of charge!
