About the Center
Since 2007, our center’s vision and strategic plan have evolved to meet the ever-changing needs and direction of health care for the increasing population of older adults and their families in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.
We accomplish our work through innovative strategies that enhance the expertise of our next generation of gerontological nurses, educators, and scientists. Our team leads initiatives and creates collaborative partnerships focused on age- and dementia-friendly care, culture change promotion, person-centered care, and other best practice approaches in the care of older adults and their families.
At Penn State, CGNE provides leadership and support to enhance geriatric-focused programming for all Nese College of Nursing campuses as well as other Penn State colleges and departments.
Beyond the University, CGNE maintains affiliations and collaborative partnerships with community members, strategic partners, and organizations that share our vision for enhancing the quality of life and care of all older adults on a local and regional basis, throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, within the United States, and internationally in countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
